Shooting of Dontre Hamilton
The shooting of Dontre Hamilton occurred on April 30, 2014, when a white police officer, Christopher Manney, fatally shot and killed a black man, Dontre Hamilton, at Milwaukee's Red Arrow Park. Hamilton was a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic. Police Chief Edward Flynn fired Manney in October, saying he had instigated the fight with an inappropriate pat-down, and the district attorney declined to prosecute finding the use of force to be in self-defense.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Dontre Hamilton case: Former officer not charged in fatal Milwaukee shooting )〕
Though no criminal charges were brought, the police officer involved was fired after the incident, which was questioned and upheld by a panel of Fire ad Police Commissioners without explanation. A federal investigation is ongoing as of April 2015 to determine whether there were any civil rights violations.
